Cheese Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs
Bacon is smoky and tender and combines everything that makes up the fifth flavor, umami, which is known as hearty and hearty: salt, fat and smoke. Melted cheese is always a creamy treat. A beef hot dog refined with these two ingredients is a pure gourmet experience. These cheese stuffed bacon wrapped hot dogs are delicious and flavorful, a pure flavor explosion. After trying this delicious hot dog, you will never want to eat such a boring frankfurter hot dog again.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 large hot dog sausages
- 4 to 8 cheese sticks, mostly frozen
- Monterey Jack with Jalapeño
- 8 slices of bacon
- 4 buns, e.g. COBS Bread Gourmet Hot Dog Buns
- diced red onion as topping
- Sturdy straws, like those used for slushies
PREPARATION
- Put the cheese in the freezer before starting so that it is nice and cold and hard. Preheat the grill to around 200°C to 230°C and prepare for indirect grilling.
- Use a straw for iced drinks (it's slightly thicker than standard straws) to make a hole through the hot dog.
- Cut the cheese stick lengthways so that it fits into the hole you drilled. Carefully fill the hole and thus the hot dog with cheese and then close both ends with the cut out hot dog meat.
- Wrap each hot dog with bacon and secure with toothpicks.
- Place the bacon-wrapped hot dogs on the grill and grill over indirect heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn every five minutes. Once the bacon is rendered and crispy, grill the hot dogs briefly over direct heat. Caution is advised as the fat from the bacon can cause a flare-up.
- Toast the hot dog buns and once you think the bacon is cooked through, remove the hot dogs from the grill. Remove toothpicks.
- Serve hot dogs in the toasted buns with plenty of diced red onion and your favorite condiment.
Cheese-stuffed bacon-wrapped hot dogs turn a hot dog dinner into a gourmet barbecue experience. The smooth and smoky meat flavor turns into a flavor tornado as soon as you bite into the melted cheese. Your guests will all love the garnish of tart hot red onion and seasoning, especially if you serve it with a tart, dry apple cider. What would happen if we used minced meat instead of sausages? What is your favorite ground beef hot dog?
