Garlic chicken with maple syrup
BY: ANDREA ALDEN
Garlic chicken with maple syrup is delicious. Tastes wonderfully like garlic, is sweet and sticky. You can combine it beautifully with almost anything else. A fresh salad with a fruity vinegar dressing goes well with it, so make fried potatoes, nice and salty and crispy. This recipe is ideal for any chicken meat, be it drumsticks or thighs, whole legs or even chicken breasts. But be sure to leave the skin on, because it contains the flavor.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 jalapeño pepper, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 12 chicken legs
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
PREPARATION
- Preheat the grill to medium temperature.
- Stir together garlic, jalapeño peppers, mustard, maple syrup and shortening in a large bowl.
- Season chicken with salt and pepper. Place chicken in a grill basket.
- Grill the chicken for 8 to 10 minutes on each side or until completely cooked through. Drizzle generously with the maple syrup mixture.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the grill basket and place in the remaining maple syrup mixture.
- Garnish with spring onion and sesame seeds. Serve immediately to yourself and 6 of your closest friends or refrigerate and store in an airtight container.
This recipe originally called for drumsticks, but you can use pretty much any skin-on chicken you like. I still had a few wonderful thighs that were ideal for this. In our blog article you can find out more about preparing chicken and why you should leave the skin on. What part of the chicken do you like to cook the most?
