Grilled banana boat ice cream

This Grilled Banana Boat Ice Cream is probably the easiest grilled dessert ever! The hardest part is carefully peeling and unrolling the banana peel to form the boat. The rest is a kind of edible work of art that is placed on the grill and eaten warm, covered in ice cream. Maybe you make your own ice cream like I did! Your children will love this grilled dessert. Try it. The recipe can be modified, i.e. ingredients can be removed or added as desired. This means that the banana boat ice cream is also allergy-friendly!

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 firm bananas
  • 12 bamboo skewers
  • Your favorite ice cream

Optional

  • Ingredients as desired
  • Chocolate drops
  • Peanut butter chunks
  • Butterscotch pieces
  • Butterscotch pieces
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Peanut butter
  • Hot Caramel
  • Caramel sauce
  • Cherries
  • Sprinkles
  • Peanuts
  • Pecans
  • Walnuts
  • Granola
  • Greek yogurt
  • Broken chocolate bars
  • Whipped cream

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat the grill to 230 °C.
  2. Carefully cut the banana peel from the stem end on one side and create a thin, open rectangle. Roll back the banana peel and expose the fruit. Use two bamboo skewers to hold back the shell. The skewers also ensure that the banana stays in its position and doesn't slip. Try to make this look artistic.
  3. Spoon out a little of the banana pulp; a hollow should be created for the topping. Carefully cut the banana in half, but do not cut through the peel on the other side.
  4. Fill bananas with chocolate chips, crumbled chocolate bars or other melt-in-the-mouth treats like peanut butter pieces or butterscotch pieces. Nuts and caramel sauce can also be added
  5. Bake with the lid closed and on indirect heat for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the chocolate and other ingredients have melted and the banana peels are completely black.
  6. Carefully remove the bananas from the grill and top with ice cream (try one of these amazing grilled ice cream recipes), whipped cream, and whatever topping you can think of for these banana splits. At the very end, a cherry should be placed on top.

The recipe for grilled banana boat ice cream can be modified depending on your preference and needs (allergy friendly). I topped my banana boat with homemade brownie swirl ice cream, chocolate chips and whipped cream. How do you garnish your personal banana boat sundae?
