Han-burgers
BY: ANDREA ALDEN
May Fourth. A day that needs to be celebrated, it's Star Wars Day. How is the world's best grill manufacturer celebrating? By making Han burgers. Modeled after the classic “Smashburger,” these Han burgers resemble our favorite ratty-looking Wookie driver and the indestructible spaceship Millennium Falcon. They don't fall apart. They'll go from the grill to your stomach in less than 12 parsecs. Promised.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 pounds medium ground beef
- Freshly ground salt and pepper to taste
- 6 egg or potato rolls to serve
- 1/4 cup butter
- Your favorite toppings, such as bacon, cheese, lettuce, onions, ketchup and mustard.
PREPARATION
- Remove grill grates and use the cast iron plancha or place the plancha on the grill grates. Light grill and preheat to approximately 260°C using the burners located under the plancha.
- Divide the minced beef into 6 portions of 150 g each. Form a loose ball and then flatten it. You should get flat, fluffy patties. Spread butter on burger buns.
- As soon as the plancha is hot, melt 1 tablespoon of butter on the plate and then place the burgers on it. Flatten the patties with the spatula to give them a large surface area. Normally we don't recommend this. In this case, however, the burgers are on a solid plate and the meat juice cannot drip off and is therefore retained. Season the burgers with salt and pepper as desired.
- After about 3 minutes, turn the burger over; the first side should be nice and crispy. Fry for another 3 minutes. When all the burgers are done, place them on the off area of the grill to keep warm and place the buns on the grill. Directly onto the hot plate until crispy and golden brown, about 2 minutes.
- Top the burgers with your favorite ingredients. As a side dish, we recommend Falcon fries, also known as poutine (fries with cheese and gravy).
I personally put a little bacon on my Han burgers and to be honest it made the burgers a little rubbery. These smash burgers are easy to prepare and delicious in taste. The premium crispy fried beef is a complete contrast to our usual big and juicy burgers. What did you grill on Star Wars Day?
